Hertfordshire Guide Centre
Girlguiding Hertfordshire owns a wonderful residential centre with adjoining campsite, situated in the lovely rural village of Cottered in North Hertfordshire.
We welcome Girlguiding units, our friends from Scouting and other youth and local groups. The campsite is particularly popular with Duke of Edinburgh’s Award groups.
Holiday home
Hertfordshire Guide Centre (HGC) has recently undergone a building refurbishment and now offers 5 bedrooms, sleeping 27 in total and 2 new bathrooms in our indoor accommodation. Additionally, there are extra mattresses located under bunk beds which can be used to accommodate larger groups.
The recent enhancements include state-of-the-art specialist equipment making HGC fully accessible. One of the bedrooms (sleeping 3) includes a ceiling hoist and a fully accessible en-suite shower room also fitted with a hoist and an adult-sized changing table.
There is a spacious, wheelchair accessible, entrance hall, a dining room, kitchen and large hall. It lends itself well as an activity, meeting and training venue, as well as for residential stays.

Campsite
In a beautiful countryside setting you will find a large, enclosed campsite adjoining the holiday home, catering for up to 100 in total, although it can be split into 2 smaller camps of 50. There is a well-equipped toilet and shower block with 2 separate areas; a fully enclosed camp shelter, which can be used in bad weather (not for sleeping in); and a well-equipped camp shed, including fridges and cooking equipment. There is also a great trim trail and campfire circle.

On site shop
Shops selling county branded merchandise and HGC badges are located on site and available to users whether camping or staying in the holiday home. A great way to remember your stay at the county centre.
All profits from the shop go towards raising vital funds for the centre, as well as fulfilling young members’ desire to buy souvenirs. We have a large range of goodies for sale.
Items purchased from the shop in the holiday home can be paid for in cash or card using a SumUp machine. The campsite shop is cash only.
