CHALLENGE BADGES

Hertfordshire Thinking Day 2021 Challenge Badge

Are you looking for a way to celebrate World Thinking Day this year?

Girlguiding Hertfordshire are launching a Challenge badge for all members to take part in virtually, either as part of your unit or individually.

The theme for the badge is ‘Unity’, consisting of 4 sections: Myself, My Unit, My Community and All Herts Together. As part of the challenge badge we are also hosting a virtual promise renewal via YouTube on Sunday 21 February at 16:00, to celebrate Thinking Day as a county.

We would love to see photos of your girls/daughters taking part, so please share away in the comments on our Facebook page and create a sense of unity!

You will be able to pre-order the badge via the form in the challenge pack. Orders will be open until Sunday 7 March 2021 at a cost of £1.50 each (plus P&P).

The challenge badge pack contains all of the activities, requirements and badge pre-order form.

Marathon Challenge Badge

The Walking Team is excited to announce a brand new Challenge badge to link in with the Olympics. Anyone can participate, member or non-member, so families can go out and exercise together and everyone can have fun earning the badge.

The Challenge is to walk or run a marathon – that’s 42km – which even at 2-3km a day is quickly achievable. The reward for your efforts is a lovely bright badge in the Olympic colours. The Challenge will run for the whole of 2021 so for those who can do more, there’s a different coloured badge for each marathon you complete, to make up the 5 Olympic rings.

To help you keep a record of your progress, you might like to use the colour-in footpath we’ve created, or you can fill in a traditional walking log book. Both are optional.

To make your daily walks more fun, follow the Herts Guides Walking Team Facebook page where different activity ideas are posted twice a week. Currently we are running a rainbow colour theme which changes every Saturday and a mid-week surprise mini challenge.

If you’re doing the mini challenges you might like to take a fantasy creature or toy out with you on your walks and photograph it next to the things you find. You can create a  ‘fantasy forage’ scrapbook or digital photo album. You’ll see my little owl on our Facebook page as he comes with me on my walks.

However you choose to do your Marathon Challenge, have fun.
