A Safe Space Training in Girlguiding Hertfordshire

Girlguiding launched the updated the ‘A Safe Space’ training in September 2017 to help create an environment where girls can be safe and have fun. All volunteers will need to do Level 1 and your role(s) determine which of the next 3 levels you will need to complete and see below for explanation of levels. By December 2020 everyone will need to have the correct level of training for their role. LEVEL 1 – AN INTRODUCTION: For all volunteers including occasional helpers, GO coordinators, home contacts and parent helpers, peer educators and Young Leaders including those doing the Young Leader

Introducing the Youth Opportunities Team

This new team has been created to bring together all the opportunities Guiding can offer to young people aged 13+. Headed up by Catherine Farman, the team have already begun work on their strategy and will soon be finalising a name, launching a logo, newsletter and first round of activities. 2020 Subscriptions

This is advance notice that the subscription for members of Girlguiding Hertfordshire for 2020 will be £35.00 (i.e. £16 HQ, £10 Anglia and £9 Hertfordshire). Please remember that your Division and/or your District may add their own levy on top of this.  If you are likely to have any concerns with being able to pay please contact your Commissioner.  Commissioners can contact the County Treasurer at ctreasurer@girlguidinghertfordshire.org.uk. We appreciate that this may be an unwelcome increase from last year but unfortunately, due to fewer members paying the subscription as well as increasing

18-30’s County Champions

02/09/19

Girlguiding is introducing a new offering (yet to be named) for members who are aged between 18 and 30.  Anglia have formed a group of champions to ensure that our region provides a full offering of activities and opportunities for our 18-30s members. Lizzie Butler and Rebecca Park have been selected to be Hertfordshire’s champions and will be spending the next couple of months networking with others in the region. New County Commissioner Appointment

Dear members of Hertfordshire County, I am very pleased to inform you that Jenny Maskrey has accepted the role as County Commissioner from September 2019 when Sue and her team step down. Jenny will now be designate and shadow Sue and her team for the next three months.  Jenny is very passionate about being part of the Guiding family and loves seeing how Guiding continues to make a difference to young girls. Lifesaving defibrillator at the Hertfordshire Guide Centre

10/11/16

There is now a defibrillator at the Hertfordshire Guide Centre in Cottered which is all set up and ready for use should it be needed. These machines are designed to be used by anyone (suggest 16+). A course to use it is not necessary but can be helpful and your 1st Response Course or refresher should include defibrillators.  Leaders would be expected to follow usual procedure for a non breathing person: call ambulance, start CPR, then someone should get the defibrillator and open the lid for instructions to greatly improve chances of survival.
