Sue’s Spectacular Summer!
For Girlguiding the summer term is always busy and this was certainly the case for me. Here are just a few of the events and activities I attended in and around the County:
It was great to see so many volunteers enjoying the County Residential Training Weekend at High Leigh. Ideas were shared, old friends caught up and new friendships were made.
2nd Ware Guides 65th Birthday Party
A delightful evening was spent celebrating 65 years of guiding with 2nd Ware Guides. Adults had fun looking at photos and spotting old friends whilst the Guides showed us what today’s guiding is all about.
Cottered Village Open Day
Thanks to members of Pin Green, Stevenage and Buntingford Guide Unit for promoting Girlguiding and raising money towards the County Guide Centre.
Cheese & Wine Evening and 20th Birthday of the County Guide Centre
This was our way of saying thank you to all our wonderful volunteers.
This was my first ever Big Gig and I’ll certainly be back! My day was spent at one of the retail outlets working with the Region team and others from Hertfordshire. My highlight was meeting the new Chief Guide and having a photo opportunity.
Central Division Spectacular
All sections from Central Division came together on a beautiful day and enjoyed the activities at Tolmers. There was even the opportunity for the Promise to be made on a new level!
Sawbridgeworth District Camp
Camping or Glamping? These Leaders and girls certainly know how to camp! A hot tub was installed at the County Guide Centre, Cottered which was a resounding success.
Commonwealth Presentations at Letchworth
9 Members of 1st Letchworth RGU Senior Section were awarded their Commonwealth Awards at the end of term. It had certainly been a busy couple of terms as some of the girls had not only completed this Award they also gained 3 Chief Guide, 4 Duke of Edinburgh and 2 Young Leader Awards to go with them!
Working Party Day at the County Guide Centre
I spent a few hours with Gill and Lorraine at the County Guide Centre, Cottered on yet another hot day! The project this time was tidying out the outside camp store whilst I undertook a spot of gardening!
Guide Sailing Day at ESSA
Although the day was a bit damp and cooler than we had been having, this certainly didn’t deter everyone down at ESSA in Nazing. The girls were all out on the water (and in a couple of cases, in the water!) learning how to sail and having fun.
It’s great to see what’s going on around the County so please keep the invites coming!
