On board Falcon Adam at Aldermaston on the Kennet and Avon canal

£35 per person for one day – £75 for the full weekend (dinner sat night not included) Email Julie Myers for details

Narrowboat training weekends training is on a one-to-one basis during a weekend trip. These trainings will take place on ‘Falcon Adam’, which is a 70 foot narrowboat based at Aldermaston, near Newbury, on the Kennet and Avon canal. The weekend is open for novices and experienced boaters who wish to take the Girlguiding Narrowboat certificate.
Usually two trainings are required to complete the qualification, but previous experience may be taken into account. There will be lots of opportunities to manoeuvre the boat through locks, swing bridges and general cruising, plus training on keeping youngsters safe on the water, activities to occupy the girls and how to supervise them when they steer the boat. In order to hire Falcon Adam, 2 qualified skippers are required, other hire boat regulations may vary. Bring your unit on board for two weekends (dates of your choosing) and cover the syllabus for the narrowboating qualification at the same time. (If you do not have a unit please ring Julie Myers on 0118 961 8450 to discuss other options). For boat details see for weekend availability see
