Level 1 Walking Scheme Training & Assessment

08/12/18 to 09/12/18

8-9 December 2018, at Watton-at-Stone.  The event is being run by Herts Guides Walking Team.

It will run from 08.45am to 16.30pm each day.  It is non residential but participants need to attend both days.

Cost: £15.00 which can be paid from unit funds.

It is aimed at Leaders wanting to gain more confidence in taking girls out in lowland areas such as along towpaths, across farmland and through woodland. The course will include an easy 3.5 hour walk each day so participants need to have a level of fitness sufficient to enable them to do this. Simple map reading and navigation will be included as well as route planning. No prior knowledge is needed and the course will have a relaxed atmosphere. The course will also cover Girlguiding regulations, clothing & equipment, access & conservation, weather, hazards & risk management, first aid scenarios and emergency procedures.
