Lifesaving defibrillator at the Hertfordshire Guide Centre

10th November 16 by the County Office

There is now a defibrillator at the Hertfordshire Guide Centre in Cottered which is all set up and ready for use should it be needed.

These machines are designed to be used by anyone (suggest 16+). A course to use it is not necessary but can be helpful and your 1st Response Course or refresher should include defibrillators.  Leaders would be expected to follow usual procedure for a non breathing person: call ambulance, start CPR, then someone should get the defibrillator and open the lid for instructions to greatly improve chances of survival.

We are still raising money to buy and fit a secure box on the outside wall of the Hertfordshire Guide Centre. This will mean that the defibrillator can be accessed by those using the campsite and all of Cottered village. Please think about using the ‘I’m a Lifesaver’ badge for your next term’s programmes to help achieve this community service project and keep your community safer too.
