County Commissioner

The County Commissioner is responsible for and accountable to the whole membership in the County, ensuring quality guiding is delivered at a County level.

My guiding journey began in York as a Brownie then Guide and ultimately a unit Leader. Upon moving down to Hertfordshire I became involved with Brownies in Hertford, and a few years later became District Commissioner.

When a new role of County Brownie Adviser was launched I expressed an interest and spent 5 happy years helping to implement the new Brownie Adventure, organising events and looking after the Brownie section. From this I moved on to the role as Brownie Adviser for Anglia Region, and the highlight for me was leading the first two Anglia Region Starburst Weekends at Butlins, Skegness. What an amazing experience it was to stand before approximately 4,500 Brownies and Leaders renewing the Promise in 2010, and again in 2014.

Always looking for a new challenge, I became County Commissioner in September 2014 and am having lots of fun working with and leading so many wonderful girls and women in Hertfordshire. I am also a Girlguiding Trainer and an Assistant Brownie Leader in Ware, which keeps my feet firmly on the ground!
