I'm new to the county, how can I get involved?
Firstly, welcome to Hertfordshire, we hope you enjoy living in our county during your studies here!
It can be difficult when you move to a new place to make new friends, and find your way around your new town. We offer the opportunity for you to meet like-minded young women, make new friends and try new activities in your local area.
Volunteering to work with girls such as Rainbows, Brownies and Guides can be a welcome distraction from the stress of assignments, and of course looks good on your C.V. when you graduate!
Join the Senior Section.
If you are aged 14-25, then you can become a member of the Senior Section. (click the button to find out more about what they do.)
We have a number of senior section units in the county, but if there isn't one near you, and you have a couple of interested friends then talk to us about starting one up!
You can be a member of a Senior Section group as well as being a Young Leader or a Guider!

I'm finding studying takes up my time - I can't commit to weekly meetings, how can I stay involved?
Don't worry, there are many ways you can still be involved! Below are just some of they ways you can be involved with guiding:
Become a Guider.
If you are aged 18 years+ and are interested in volunteering to work with girls, then why not become a Guider? Guiders plan and run meetings for girls, and provide residential opportunities for girls.
Although meetings usually follow the schools' term pattern, we can be flexible if you're only around for the college/University semesters/terms. Some units in the UK only meet during University terms as they are totally run by students!
Become a Young Leader.
If you're between 14-18 years old and are interested in volunteering to work with girls, then becoming a Young Leader could be just for you. Young Leaders take an active part in planning and running the weekly meetings with the adult Guiders, and receive training on leadership skills, and can work towards gaining a leadership qualification.
Senior Section Groups.
Many Senior Section groups are flexible and may only meet every couple of weeks, but keep in touch and organise events through email or txt.
Unit Helpers
If you are 18+ and interested in volunteering to work with girls then you can become a Unit Helper (a non-uniformed helper - may be on a rota or may help with specific activities)
SSAGO(Student Scout & Guide Organisation)
If you are a student, you can join SSAGO. Unfortunately there aren't yet any clubs attached to Hertfordshire universities or colleges, but you can join as an indy member and you receive information on their rallies, events etc.
LINK
This is a non-uniformed organisation for 18-35 year olds. LINK offers an opportunity for friendship, adventure, training and fun. it is ideal for people unable to give a regular commitment to the movement. Programmes are arranged by the members and include service projects, social events and training opportunities.
